The Casa Mila, also famously known by the nickname La Pedrera ("the rock quarry"), is designed by the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi. This eight-story granite apartment block (completed in 1910) is distinguished by its continuous curving facades, rounded window openings and twisting iron balcony handrails, and an exciting rooftop terrace. Casa Mila is shaped in the form of a mountain and seems to be less a building and more a sculpture.
